Every Kiss Begins with a gift of jewelry, woman and man

12.13.09 | 2 Comments

Every Sunday, I watch football and see a lot of commercials. Some of them are tolerable or make me laugh (ie. anything with Peyton Manning), but some really offend me and make me angry. This one offends me on so many levels.

Maybe its the exercise of sexist gender roles in a cynical, forced, and sterile scripted way that feels like its acted out by robots. Maybe its the slogan, “every kiss begins with Kay” : the justification of love (and sex) as an exchange for a luxury commodity. Maybe its how shamefully unoriginal and boring the gift of a shitty necklace designed by some generic corporate ‘artist’ is, and how our society reveres it as not only acceptable but encouraged.

Any which way, its ugly ugly ugly. Enjoy!
